my week

zone conference
chá das sisteres
on pday we went to the island again with all of the sisters in the mission to all be together for a day. it was just the best. and... i saw Sister Monson for the first time again since the ctm! we talked about how we want to end our missions as comps on the island and Floripa shopping every p-day.
these sisters, Sister Monson and Sister Evershed are some of my angels here in the mission. I love them. it's just such a great group of girls.
we were in a lesson with the mom of Tonny the boy we baptized, and we might've been doing some Facebook stalking on her phone. (she asked) then we might've pulled up the Facebook account of this random Elder in Tabasco, México. Elder Summers or something. there was a photo of a temple, and she started asking about temples! we were able to talk to her about them, and it turned out to actually be such a missionary tool. another win for Facebook stalking.
this Sunday we should be having two baptisms 🤞 Gabriella and Marvell, two Venezuelans. I've loved our time teaching them and really hope Sunday goes through.
my comp and I are good. we have been together for four months straight and still get along. a blessing. she keeps trying to catch lizards to make earrings with their bones which kind of scares me, but we all got our things right...
I love the ward. some people walk an hour to get to church every morning. it's so impressive and they spoil us at lunches.
zone conference
we had zone conference this week and I got to see Sis Monson again! she's now in my Zone. Two times in one week, so good. there was a training on Christlike attributes, and the mission really is such a good time to just lock in on becoming more like Christ. I also liked a lot a part they said that, as missionaries our work is revolved around understanding the worth of souls. we get to bring souls to repentance and to Christ and there is nothing more important on the earth than that.
this week I studied the best talk. It's Bradley Wilcox, "Worthiness is not Flawlessness"
sometimes I catch myself not expecting blessings or miracles because I haven't been perfect. there's a heavily repeated saying for missionaries, "Obedience brings blessings but exact obedience brings miracles." Sometimes I feel unworthy of miracles because I'm not exact or perfect.
but literally the fact I can even say anything in Português is a miracle
as I read this talk, I remembered there is no such thing. which of course, we hear that all the time. then what is exact obedience? it's repenting. trying to do better. to be better. little by little.
"They started with small, reachable goals. They got rid of the all-or-nothing expectations and focused on incremental growth"
"His grace is not just a prize for the worthy. It is the “divine assistance” He gives that helps us become worthy. It is not just a reward for the righteous. It is the “endowment of strength.” He gives that helps us become righteous. We are not just walking toward God and Christ. We are walking with Them."
his voice and delivery are perfect, just watch it
he ends with this
"I promise those blessings and that joy are real and within reach for those who keep all the commandments and “him that seeketh so to do.”
"him that seeketh so to do"
he looks upon the heart. he knows we're trying; he knows our intents.
he is there to help us in all walks of our path, not just at the end.
I'm not perfect
I actually never will be
and Jesus still loves me.
(no, I'm not quoting Hannah Brown on that one Bachelor episode iykyk)
I should probably quote scriptures instead of the Bachelor, but if the shoe fits
perfection isn't the goal
our goal is to use the Atonement of Christ repeatedly and we will be perfected through him.
perfected is a continual process that will continue for the rest of our mortal life, and the life to come
worthiness is not flawlessness
and exact obedience isn't perfection
our worth isn't tied to our obedience
we don't need to earn his love
worthiness is not flawlessness
he loves you
&
I do too
