bom dia!!
this week was one of the best yet!
I love my area, I feel like I'm in the Little Mermaid, but if it were the hood
& I love my comp and the work.
&my STLS ;) (shoutout Evershed) They're so nice. They Uber flashed us little treats on Valentine's Day. 💘🫶🏻🍫
even though it isn't a holiday here haha.
and 7 months later I finally got trained on the medias, so I'll be starting that this week! I have 2 weeks to make the March newsletter, but I'm exciteddd. Everyone send me a theme idea. I need inspo.
Tuesday I said goodbye to Bird and left Jaraguá,
watched as I passed every road that I genuinely left blood, sweat and tears on
besides spending my time watching videos of Micah (holy he's huge)
for that 4-hour bus ride I literally went through every emotion
excitement
nostalgia
nerves
beach!
I have no idea what I'm doing
do I even speak Português
lots of nerves
I'm greenie breaking my comp which means I'm her first comp out of training.
which means she knows enough to know whether I'm doing a good job or not haha.
but thennnn
I met her and holy I got blessed. She's from Pará, the north, which means she has the best accent out of any Brazillians. she has 3 months in the mission and we laugh a lot. I lovee her. this is her 3rd transfer here, so I think we'll only have one transfer together. :(
Sister de Sousa!!
and Biguaçu is a little coastal fisherman city. I can't explain how perfect it is for me, let me list it out
ocean
shopping
açai
favelas
horses randomly everywhere
everything I love.
even to the random horses in the roads with no owners, no rope, nothing. they're literally part of traffic and everywhere.
this week was also Carnaval. which is a Brazilian holiday to drink and not wear clothes. So, the president said we had to return at 5pm and work the rest of the night online or studies. So, we didn't get to work as much as we need. even though I wasn't able to really see Carnaval, it's still fun to think I'm in Brasil during it.
Biguaçu is veryyyyy different than Jaraguá.
definitely a lot poorer, not European, and it's not an oven-like humid, valley. the ocean breeze here is genuinely lifesaving. along the beach,
(which the water is brown because it's more like a cove-type, with the city of Florianópolis bordering the horizon, so the water is dirtier lol)
on the beach there are fishermen houses with little boats on the sand and along the coast, it has some areas I'm really excited to work. it's very favela. which means it's rough. dirt roads, dogs, drugs, drinking, tiny alley ways, everything within these roads.
I just kept smiling and telling my comp how much I like it here.
my first lunch here and as senior comp I was about to ask if we could share a message, already worried about the perfect time to end the conversation and share the message, when the wife. of. the. bishop whipped it out and started feeding the baby.
I had no idea whether it was reverent enough to start the message or if I should wait till the milk stand was closed.
So, there I was telling them the joy of the gospel, mid breast feed. no cover whatsoever.
all I could do was smile and just think wow I am on a South American mission alright.
the church building here is being renovated, so getting people to church 2 cities away will be a challenge
but I already have such a good feeling about Biguaçu.
Big ua Céu
(céu: heaven)
Ahh
good good week
to be so honest, this is the first time in my entire mission I haven't wanted it to go fast
everyone, watch this short video. it's like 3 seconds and really good
chuva de bênçãos celestes
A Shower of Heavenly Blessings
I know God is always blessing us! through living the gospel, repenting, and keeping the commandments. We can close our umbrellas and receive the shower of blessings.
some blessings come now, some in a year, and some in the life to come.
but I promise they will come!
love you all so much
