hi!
this week we had stake conference
São José district ✨️🌊🫶🫂
this week was actually wild
long story as short as possible:
my purpose in life right now is Mariana. I feel so strongly impressed that I am here right now, for her.
she's a 6-foot model who used to work in
Florianópolis, the island, and she lives in the wealthiest neighborhood in the city.
but recently she has started being affected by a sickness where the muscles in her face stop working. starting with her mouth. but she can still speak.
she's cripplingly depressed, an addictive smoker, suicidal, and constantly is shaking due to her medication.
one day she sent me a picture of her reading the Book of Mormon and came to the conclusion on her own to repent and be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost.
we have been in the process of helping her, as quickly as we can.
this week she went to the doctors for an appointment and they're giving her 10 days at home under constant supervision of her mom and then after they will see if she needs to be put into a mental clinic.
Mariana had already had it all planned to go to church with her new friend, one of the Irma's of the church.
but the devil works hard and now she can only go if her mom goes, and that's another task.
moral of the story, pray for Mariana
and me
because I refuse to leave this area without helping her be baptized
transfers are in two weeks and there's a high chance I leave Biguaçu and I'm not ready 🥲
but also, I only have four transfers left and I've only had two areas
random
-walked into a home of our friend, we sit on the couch, and she said, "I think there's a dead rat behind the couch, will you move it and see"
I would love to
-guy with a Zyn (tobacco patch) on his tongue grabbed and kissed my hand
-Biguaçu is currently having a rodeo. since we're in the south of Brazil, it's like beach life, fisherman, and cowboys. right outside our apartments is a huge dirt field that they turned into a carnival/rodeo the entire week.
I've been listening to a Português rodeo announcer speaking at auction pace for 5 days straight until 5am in the morning..
it's the best!
but I do love seeing the horses every day
like I said, we had stake conference on Sunday. and wow it was so good. we had an area seventy (a brazillian leader of the church) come and speak and he spoke for probably 30 straight minutes, and I was caught on every one of his words.
he talked a lot about missionary work. or maybe I just relate everything in life now to missionary work.
he served in Santa Catarina before the Florianópolis Mission existed.
Santa Catarina is holy ground to me. it has tested and tried me every day, but it has become my Sacred Grove.
a line he said that I felt like he was literally speaking to me was
"eu cresci na igreja mas eu conheci meu salvador nas ruas de Santa Catarina"
I grew up in the church, but I came to know my Savior on the roads of Santa Catarina.
here's a bunch of photos of the streets I get to see every day
yes, subtle flex once again
Santa Catarina is so beautiful and I'm blessed to have been called here
I'm grateful for the long hard days on these roads where it really just felt like me, the road, and God.
