Today we got to go out and walked around the city and we got acai bowls. We also got free cookies because we're missionaries from Mr. Cheney's. ALSO, my companion sis Alvey and I got moved to another room and we walk into the room and it's a total upgrade with our own walk-in shower and closets. A new Sister joined us and took our old room, so we moved. No other Sisters that we know of have that room so we must be doing something right. Our days are very busy with at minimum 6 hours of classes; 3-hour Portuguese and 3-hour gospel and learning how to teach. The rest of our days are filled with studying and meals. We also are signing a contract soon saying we agree to only speak in Portuguese....
Last week they told us we all need to prepare talks because they call on 5 people to speak and we don't know until we get there. Another Sister who has been here longer told me not to worry about it because they never call on first week's. So I started to let everyone know the good news we didn't need to worry about it and then we walk into church and guess who's assigned to speak? Me, of course. Karma. Our Branch President is a no BS guy, so I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to go up there and make a joke, but I risked it and I turned around, and he gave me a smile and a thumbs up so that's a win. The food has either gotten better or I've gotten more used to it. But every day I buy a Chocolate crepe and a pao de queso (Brazilian cheese ball) and it keeps me going.
There're so many fun girls here and we're all friends and it makes it so much fun. Once I have to leave them and actually go to the field, it'll get real. But I am loving it now. We love to all match dresses with different girls different days. I'm the designated nail tech
Putting my attention on Jesus Christ every day, all day has been the reason for my joy. Something cool was driving from the MTC to the temple was a long drive and it was very cloudy and dark, but when we pulled up to the temple it was bright and sunny and peaceful. I think it's a perfect illustration of the gospel. In the middle of the crazy world, we as missionaries get to be sharing positive messages and love. It's a cool feeling I'm grateful for. I can promise you that the scriptures and prayer can you bring you more joy than you could ask for.
Also, there's a link to send me cookies from the cookie shop here so let me know if you want that 😏 🍪
Love you all! Listen to Taylor swift for me. Email me and join my Google photos. ❤️ Sister Copeland
